The duxianqin is a single string plucked chordophone from Southern China. It bears great resemblance to the vietnamese dan bau, from it probably descended. Like the dan bau, also the duxianqin is use a mixture of flageolets notes and glissandi produced by moving the neck. Differing from its vietnamese cousin, the body of the duxianqin is frequently made of bamboo instead of wood. For guitarists, the microtonal phrasings in the video below hold some interesting associations with Jeff Beck's slide work on "Nadia".
